Purchasing a domain should be one of the easiest tasks when establishing your website, at least you would think so. However, it seems to be one of the more difficult things to get accomplished…so we are going to show you exactly what to do. For lack of space to discuss each site, we are just going to do a quick run down of utilizing godaddy.
Here We Grow:
Go to godaddy.com
When it comes up you will notice a couple of ladies, but stay focused.
You are looking for the big box in the middle of the screen that says “search for new domain”.
Got it? Great.
Selecting Your Website Name:
You are going to type in the domain that you are trying to acquire, and just to the right of it you will notice “.com”.
We highly recommend that you try to get your domain name with a .com.
Also, and this is the most important part of buying your domain as a local business, buy your business name.
If your business name is taken then add your city after your business name.
This will help your website rank higher when people look for you on places like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
Just as an example we typed in “MyBusinessName” and left it at .com.
Now you can see that it comes up taken, yeah, because somebaody snatched that bad girl up. So if you need to get creative then GET CREATIVE!
You can scroll down you can see that there are other options. You see a set of 4 variations to consider and then below that there are a list of premium domain names.
You can use the variations and premium section to help brainstorm, sometimes it gets the creative juices flowing.
Is the domain you typed in available? It is! GET IT!
Omeone got it already? DANG IT!
Continue the steps above until you find what you are looking for.
That is just the beginning of the checkout process at GoDaddy… unfortunately.
